Livin’ That Shaka Life

As I cruise through the Pacific Waters surrounded by friends, sipping on some pineapple beer, I feel truly in touch with the Shaka Life. But, what is the Shaka Life?? It’s a connection with the ocean, a laidback lifestyle, with importance put on not money or belongings, but rather spending time with family & friends and living life to the fullest.

Whether you’re hiking through the mountains on the East Side, purchasing something from a shop in town, or chilling on the beach on North Shore, locals throw you a shaka as a friendly gesture. It’s is the most common hand gesture in Hawaiin culture, think of it as waving, but more meaningful. The shaka symbolizes a “hang loose” vibe, most commonly used to convey the aloha spirit as a motion or greeting of thanks.

A little bit about the Shaka Life brand and it’s mission…

From the shores of the Keys to Bimini and Hawaii, founder Elizabeth Perez has drawn inspiration from the ocean literally since the day she was born. From the glistening water and cresting surf she draws purpose and meaning. Whether she’s surfing, scuba diving, playing water polo or island-hopping, the islands act as an enchanting life undercurrent. Now, this ocean-bred free spirit is bringing the Shaka vibe to life with an authentic line of wave-infused, active clothing and lifestyle gear. Drawing from Elizabeth’s deep connection with the water, Shaka Life transforms island motifs into wearable art.

Being a mermaid myself, I obviously LOVE this pink beer koozie. It even has a little pocket for your money or ID, which I’ve actually never seen before, but it’s a super smart idea! I use all the time when I’m only wearing my bikini and don’t have pockets or a bag with me (which is pretty frequently!)

They have a variety of super cute tops for both men and women! The material is so soft and I love that it has the famous Hawaiin fishing hook symbol. The deep connection and reverence the Hawaiians have for the ocean created the meaning behind the Hawaiian fish hook necklace. It represents strength, prosperity, abundance, and a great respect for the sea. Ancient Hawaiians believed that a bone necklace takes on part of the spirit of those who wear it!

If you follow me on social media, you know I’m always out on the ocean, enjoying life and soaking in the good vibes. Shaka Life will definitely continue to be one of my new favorite ocean brands!

Browse their extensive collection for yourself, you’ll be sure to find something you LOVE at prices that say ALOHA!
